Catherine Thérode-Laurent studied at the Bourges School of Music, going on to advanced vocal
studies with Janine Devost, Régine Crespin, Jean-Christophe Benoît and the American master Richard
Miller.
She has won many awards, among them: "Masters of Song" ("Maîtres du Chant"), Specialising in
oratorio, she began her solo career as a soloist with conductor Robert Martignoni, with whom she
also studied orchestral conducting.
Accomplished musician and enthusiastic teacher, she turned to choral conducting and accepted a
teaching post with the Regional Polyphonic Art Centre, first in Central France, then in Brittany.
In 1993 she was appointed regional choral and orchestral conductor in Reunion Island.
In addition to ongoing work with the orchestras and choirs in her charge, she has frequently been
a guest conductor.
She has conducted an eclectic repertoire, including Cherubini's "Requiem", Francis Poulenc's
"Concerto for 2 Pianos", "Danse Macabre" by Saint-Saëns, Rossini's "Petite Messe Solennelle",
Mozart's "Sinfonie Concertante" and Dvorak's "Te Deum".
She holds advanced teaching diplomas in vocal studies and in conducting, as well as a university
degree in Music and Dramatic Arts Administration.
Catherine Thérode-Laurent has been the Choral Society's musical and artistic director since
September 2005. She is also Director of the School of Music and Dance in Fleury-les-Aubrais.
Emmanuelle CLAUDE

Emmanuelle Claude began her musical studies in Bourges at the National School of Music in
Bourges, where she studied orchestral conducting with Robert Martignoni.
She gained her Conductor's diploma in 1993
At the same time she studied musicology at the University of Tours and gained her teaching
qualification in 1993.
She began her teaching career at Littre Secondary School in Bourges in 1994, and has since put
on performances of "The Sound of Music" and "The Little Prince"(Le Petit Prince).
She has been assistant conductor since September 2000.
In concerts organised by the Society, she has conducted sacred works such as Mozart's "Ave Verum",
extracts of "Handel's Messiah", Fauré's "Cantique de Jean Racine", Cherubini's "Requiem" and
Rossini's "Petite Messe Solennelle".
